// frequently asked

Questions, Answered.

Kits, shipping, firmware and the free simulator.

Do I need any programming experience to build a kit?

No. Every board ships pre-flashed with tested firmware, and the build guide walks you through wiring with photos. If you can plug in USB, you can build it.

What is the free online simulator?

A browser-based ESP32 simulator at app.sensbench.com — wire components on a virtual breadboard, flash real firmware, watch it run. No account, no install, no cost. It runs on an open-source emulation engine.

Do the kits need Home Assistant?

They integrate with Home Assistant out of the box (ESPHome auto-discovery over local Wi-Fi). The devices also work standalone — HA is optional, not required.

Is my data sent to any cloud?

No. All kits are local-first: ESPHome firmware talks to your Home Assistant over your own Wi-Fi. There is no sensbench cloud, no account, no telemetry.

What exactly is in the box?

Each kit page lists the full BOM: the pre-flashed ESP32 board, every sensor and module, wires, USB-C cable, enclosure parts where applicable, and the printed quick-start card.

Can I reflash or modify the firmware?

Absolutely — it is your hardware. Source YAML/Arduino code is linked from each kit page. Reflashing never voids anything.

When will the Presence Sensor Kit ship?

It is in final component validation (24GHz mmWave module). Join the list on the kits page and we email you the day it goes live.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Secure checkout via Stripe — Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay and Google Pay. PayPal is being added.

What is the return policy?

30-day money-back guarantee. If the kit does not work for you, email us and we refund or replace — your choice.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Tracked shipping rates are calculated at checkout.

Do you offer wholesale or classroom pricing?

Yes — see the Production Station pathway or email us with quantities for a quote.

How do I get help during a build?

Every kit page links its step-by-step guide. Stuck anyway? Email support and a real engineer answers — usually within a day.
