Automate Your Home with ESP32 — Local-First, No Cloud

The SensBench Home Assistant pathway is a pre-flashed ESP32 kit route from browser simulation to a working Home Assistant entity — simulate first, then deploy hardware that already runs tested firmware.

Start with a simulated sensor

Every kit has a matching simulation example. Wire the DHT22 or mmWave presence circuit in your browser, watch the readings change, and break things safely — before a single real wire is cut. The simulator compiles the same firmware the kits ship with, so what you validate is what you deploy.

Flash once, own it forever

Kits arrive with firmware already flashed and bench-tested: MQTT or ESPHome discovery, sane entity names, OTA updates. Power it on and it appears in Home Assistant. No cloud accounts, no vendor dashboards — your automation keeps working when the internet doesn’t. A Garage Smart Kit covers the classic door-monitoring build; the Presence Sensor Kit adds mmWave room detection.

From box to dashboard in an evening

Plug in USB-C, join it to your network, and Home Assistant discovers the entity. The printed guide maps every test point, and the Knowledge Base covers the failure modes — brownout resets, Wi-Fi drops, MQTT retain — with fixes verified on the bench.

Questions before you buy

Does it work with Home Assistant? Yes — every kit exposes MQTT or ESPHome entities out of the box.

Do I need to solder? No. Kits use screw terminals and jumper leads; soldering is optional.

What if my Wi-Fi drops? Firmware buffers locally and reconnects; nothing is stored in a vendor cloud. Compare all six kits →
