Kit questions
What does “pre-flashed” actually mean?
The firmware is already compiled and flashed onto the board before shipping. Power it up, follow the guide, and the project works — no toolchain setup on day one. It is still a standard ESP32: flash your own firmware over it whenever you are ready.
Do I need a cloud account or subscription?
No. The Home Assistant kits auto-discover over your own Wi-Fi and keep working if the internet goes down. No accounts, no telemetry, no monthly fees — you own the whole stack.
Can I buy the parts individually?
Yes — every board, sensor and module is also sold separately in the shop. Kits exist because the bundle is cheaper than the parts plus shipping, and the firmware is already tested on exactly those parts.
